Safeguarding
At Gorseybrigg Primary School we fully recognise our responsibility for Child Protection and Safeguarding, including Online Safety.
We take our responsibility very seriously and aim to keep all children in our care as safe as possible.
All of our policies and procedures outline how we will deliver these responsibilities, ensuring the safety and welfare of our children both in school and out of school.
Our governing body also play a vital role in ensuring that our policies and procedures are robust and effective.
Safeguarding Lead in School | Corinne Thornton (Headteacher)
Deputy Safeguarding Lead | Rachel McLeod (Deputy Headteacher)
Governor for Safeguarding | Wendy Temple (Chair of Governors)
Governor for Anti Bullying | Jill Andrews
For any safeguarding concerns, please speak to the Headteacher or Deputy headteacher in the first instance. However, if they are unavailable please email Corinne Thornton on cthornton@gorseybrigg.derbyshire.sch.uk or Rachel MacLeod rmacleod@gorseybrigg.derbyshire.sch.uk or out of hours contact email is safeguarding@gorseybrigg.derbyshire.sch.uk - this is checked regularly during weekends and school holidays.
Any Safeguarding concerns can be reported to any member of staff as safeguarding our children is everybody’s responsibility.
Parents should be aware that under the 2004 Children's Act, we all have a duty of care to children. Our school is required by law to take any reasonable action to safeguard our pupils. In cases where the school has reason to be concerned that a child maybe subject to or at risk of ill treatment, negligence or other forms of abuse including Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and risky online behaviour, we are obliged by law to follow the procedures established by the Derbyshire Safeguarding Board and this may involve a referral to Starting Point and Social Care.
