Our Nursery is open during term time:

8:45 - 11:45
every morning
and from
12:15 - 3:15 every afternoon

Lunchtime provision is available for children wishing to stay all day.

All children are entitled to 15 hours of Government-funded education. Some children will be entitled to 30 hours of Government-funded education. In order to qualify for 30 hours, your family will need to meet certain criteria.

To check if you are eligible, please visit the Government’s ‘Childcare Choices’ website – http://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/.

Each of our Nursery sessions last for 3 hours; 8.45am-11.45am and 12.15pm – 3.15pm. We also offer a lunchtime session from 11.45am-12.15pm, for which children will need to bring a packed lunch or have a school dinner, at a cost of £3.25 per meal from September 2023. Children can attend Nursery for morning sessions only, afternoon sessions only, a mixture of morning and afternoon sessions or for full days (depending on availability). In addition, you may choose to add a lunchtime session (£3.63) onto a morning or afternoon session (£21.75 a session if it takes you over your 15/30 hour allowance).

The minimum number of sessions your child can be booked into the Nursery for is 3 sessions per week (9 hours). One session equals either a morning or afternoon half day session. This is because we are an educational setting and attending for 9 hours a week ensures that each child is able to access the curriculum and learning opportunities as well as developing relationships with the other children and the staff.

The nursery is run by a qualified teacher, Mrs Kate Pidcock and our Nursery TA, Mrs Lucie Sharpe.
Children can join the nursery in the term following their third birthday, providing that space is available.

Due to the popularity of our nursery we are now full for this academic year (24-25). Our next nursery open morning will not take place until the Summer Term (Easter) for September 2025 starters.

We do, however, have open events for reception September 2025 starters and you are welcome to come and visit the school and nursery and speak with our nursery teacher at this event.

All children are enabled to develop to their full potential in a fun environment where caring, sharing and co-operative play are actively encouraged.

For many of the sessions, our nursery joins with the reception class to learn and play together.  Many children from the nursery do attend the school when old enough, and this eases their transition to full-time education.

A drink of either water or milk is provided, along with freshly prepared fruit and vegetables.

Useful guidance from Derbyshire County Council on helping your child get ready for school may be found here.

We have a large purpose-built outdoor play area used in all weathers.  There are bikes, scooters, water, mud kitchen, a willow dome, vegetable garden and digging area.

Indoors in the Nursery, there is a water tray, sand pit, dough modelling area, construction area, mark making table, reading area, painting easel, computers, small world toys and a role play area.  All equipment is changed regularly.

On Monday, the Nursery children have an outdoor Forest School session and on Tuesday, we have a games (PE) session. On Wednesday, we enjoy choosing a book from the school library and on Friday, we take part in a gymnastics session in the school hall.
